What a long strange trip...

I'm BAAAACK!!!!!! Did y'all miss me? Probably didn't even notice the absence, did ya? Don't blame you a bit, dear reader. The last 13 years have been to say the least, unique. In 2010, on July 4th my wife and I left charismatic pentecostalism because of various departures from what would be considered normal behavior for people of faith. That however, is not the focus of this post. Long story short, we spent a year and a half, approximately completely away from any church. Our next spiritual foray was into Catholicism. I know, I know - out of the frying pan and into the fire, right? Unless you've actually been from one end of Christianity to the other, you can't really get the proper perspective on how different yet similar the sects and movements are. And every dang one of them thinks they are the only expression of the faith that gets it right. So...

From late 2011, until 2021 we explored Catholicism, finding that for every question answered 3 more popped up. We discovered inconsistencies between the christian scriptures (new testament) and the Hebrew scriptures (old testament) they referenced. Finally, after much searching of the soul (and the Hebrew scriptures) we left Christianity altogether and are now on the Noahide path. Now for the disclaimer: I'm not (emphatically not) putting anyone down for remaining in Christianity. I'm not qualified to judge anyone, and therefore will not. This is my life, my path, and how I got here is uniquely tailored to me, my past and my upbringing. I will leave you with this parting thought: since discovering this path, I no longer live in fear of what eternity holds for me, I can appreciate every day as a gift from the Almighty, and I am capable of seeing everyone as a fellow traveler regardless of their situation, no longer feeling the need to "save" everyone.

Enough catharsis for one day. I will return soon and maybe fill in the gaps of the last 13 years. Until then, I bid you, dear reader a fond adieu.

P. S. Please forgive the Grateful Dead reference...
